Why choose a 65-inch TV in the first place?

Over the years TVs have definitely evolved in shape and size and these days it seems the bigger the better. A 65-inch TV is a popular choice because it can really enhance your viewing experience.

With so much on-demand content available you can replicate the cinema experience at home, every night of the week. Pass the popcorn!

Cost-wise, there’s a 65-inch TV to suit most budgets, so you can definitely enjoy your favorite thriller on the big screen without breaking the bank. However, it might not be packed with the latest screen technology for the best picture quality.

If you’re able to stretch the purse strings, there are some truly special 65-inch models out there that are brimming with unbelievable screen tech. So, if you’re a massive movie lover, sports fan, or gamer, investing in a high-spec 65-inch TV is definitely a smart move.

What are the dimensions of a 65-inch TV?

A 65-inch TV measures 65 inches diagonally from one corner of the screen to the other. They’re 56.7 inches in width by 31.9 inches in height, but you may find slight variants in size depending on the thickness of the TV’s bezel. This is the frame that sits around the outside of the screen.

Cheaper TVs will have thicker bezels, whereas more expensive and premium models will have almost no bezel at all, which helps them look all sleek and fancy!

Don’t worry though, even if you are on a budget, a cheaper model with a thicker bezel will only add another couple of inches to the overall dimensions, max.

Is it worth buying a 65-inch TV?

A 65-inch TV is definitely worth investing in if you have the space to house it. Not only will you need enough wall space for mounting it or floor space for a stand, but you’ll also need to make sure there’s enough room between the TV and your couch for optimal viewing conditions.

If you can comfortably accommodate all of these measurements then give yourself the green light to splurge on something special.

Screens of this size tend to be packed with lots of impressive tech that makes films, documentaries, and even games look amazing! So, if the dimensions stack up in the room where you want to place it, you’re in for a visual treat.

Is a 65-inch TV too big?

In most spacious living rooms a 65-inch TV will fit just fine, but it may look too big in a smaller room. Before you buy, make sure you can accommodate the ideal viewing distance from your couch to the screen.

How far should you sit from a 65-inch TV?

The ideal viewing distance for a 65-inch TV depends on its screen resolution. For a model with a 1080p screen, you’ll need to be between 8 and 13 feet away. For a 4K Ultra HD screen, you’ll need to be between 5.5 and 8 feet away.

Sitting too close to either screen type will feel a bit like enduring a spot on the front row at the cinema. You’ll find yourself having to continuously move your head, neck, and eyes to see anything, cue tired peepers and painful headaches.

A lower-quality 1080p screen will also look pixelated up close and that’s not a good look for your favorite movie star.

Equally, sitting too far away can be problematic as well. Again, if you have a lower-quality screen and speakers, you’re going to miss out on picture detail and quieter speech and sounds. Speak up, Batman!

Is a 65-inch TV too big to mount?

For a streamlined look, 65-inch TVs can be mounted to a wall. You just need to check the back of it to find its VESA bracket size and then the product manual for its weight. Once you have these details you can then find the right mount.

VESA stands for Video Electronics Standards Association and thankfully they’ve standardized bracket configurations on the back of most TVs to make wall mounting really easy.

Wall mounting is also great if you need to save on floorspace or hide any unsightly wires, so it’s a good option for neat freaks. Plus, there are some TVs that will display your favorite pieces of art or even your family pictures when it’s not in use. Just make sure you vet the pictures before they make it to the big screen!

Can you mount a 65-inch TV on drywall?

Despite their large size, 65-inch TVs can be mounted on drywall. In order to do this safely though, you’ll need to locate where the studwork sits within the wall so that you can attach the mount securely to it.

You can use an electronic stud finder for this job or if you don’t have one, simply knock on the wall until you hear a solid sound. If the wall sounds hollow there’s no stud behind the wall in that area.

  • Accurate and Rapid: The stud finder adopts an intelligent micro-sensor chip
  • 5-in-1 Multi-function Detection
  • LCD display and sound alarm, which can detect the exact location of the objects.

Can you mount a 65-inch TV in a corner?

Although no one puts Baby in a corner, it’s absolutely fine to mount a 65-inch TV in one. In fact, it’s a really smart, space-saving solution. You just need to make sure you buy a specific corner mount or full-motion mount to make sure your TV is secure and properly supported.

These mounts give you the flexibility to tilt and turn the TV so that you can find the perfect viewing angle. Just remember to call shotgun on the comfiest spot on the couch first!

  • Universal Corner Mount: Full motion corner mount fits most 37-70 inch LED, LCD, OLED, and 4K TVs weighing up to 99 lbs
  • Space Saver

How high should a TV stand be for a 65-inch TV?

The ideal height for a 65-inch TV stand is around the 42-inch mark, this will usually position the middle of the screen just above your eye line for comfortable viewing. If your TV sits too high or too low, you risk straining your eyes and neck.

Finding the perfect height for your TV stand is crucial for optimizing your viewing pleasure, but the above is just a guideline.

To make sure your stand’s height is just right for your particular needs, you’re going to need to factor in the viewing distance, the seat height of your chair or couch, and any obstructions in the area such as cabinets or speakers, (the dog doesn’t count).

What is the best 65-inch TV for the price?

After some window shopping online we found this beauty for quite a reasonable price considering the tech it’s packing in.

This TV has an outstanding OLED screen, which works in partnership with Sony’s clever Cognitive Processor XR. The name might not mean much but in real terms, this TV understands how a human sees and hears things and it mimics the process.

So, you’ll get intense color contrast, pure blacks, high peak brightness, and natural colors in the blink of an eye.

As you’d expect, it’s Smart too so you can access over 700,000 movies and TV shows from your favorite streaming services via Google TV. And it’s also compatible with Alexa, so if you lose the remote you can just use a voice command to change the channel, adjust the volume and turn your TV on and off.

This model isn’t cheap but considering the screen tech and picture quality you’ll get compared to lower-spec TVs at the same price point, this one’s a no-brainer!

You’re welcome!
